Kaden Honeycutt won the Race to Stop Suicide 200 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. He led 111 of 134 laps in the No. 11 Tricon Garage Toyota, swept both stages, and beat Christian Eckes by 1.358 seconds. The race was stopped for 4 hours, 47 minutes by rain, and the win moved Honeycutt into the Truck Series Chase lead (NASCAR.com).
How it was won
Honeycutt started fourth, took the lead from polesitter Nick Sanchez on the opening lap, and led Stage 1 from start to finish. Intermittent storms brought out the red flag after about 70 laps with Grant Enfinger out front. Had the race been called there, Enfinger would have won; instead he finished 31st after a late tire failure and wall contact (Above The Yellow Line).
At the Lap 78 restart, Honeycutt quickly passed Enfinger and Ben Rhodes, who had stayed out on older tires. Top seed Layne Riggs had lost time on pit road earlier, when his crew had to secure a loose wheel. He took two tires on the final caution stop and grabbed the lead on Lap 122, but Honeycutt re-passed him a lap later. Riggs then hit the outside wall with two laps left and faded to 19th (NASCAR.com).
Honeycutt credited his crew’s execution for the win, and said he skipped the burnout to save the engine for the Homestead finale.
