Sheldon Creed won the Food City 300 in two-lap overtime for Haas Factory Team, beating William Sawalich by 0.253 seconds for his first career Bristol win and the O’Reilly Chase lead (Bristol race report).
How it was won
Crew chief Jonathan Toney put Creed on fresh tires before the overtime restart on Lap 304. Creed lined up inside beside race leader Sawalich, launched cleanly, and cleared for the lead. Sawalich tried the high line; Creed held the bottom and won at the stripe. Creed was credited with leading only the final three laps — his third O’Reilly win of 2026 and third career series victory.
Earlier, Carson Kvapil led a race-high 156 laps before smoke forced a late pit, finishing 24th. Jesse Love led 84 laps but ran Justin Allgaier into the outside wall after a Lap 286 restart; Love finished 17th, Allgaier fourth. A Lap 297 caution for Ryan Sieg’s wall contact shuffled the late order and set up overtime.

History & significance
The Food City 300 is Bristol’s traditional Friday night O’Reilly / former Xfinity companion to the Cup Night Race. Creed’s overtime pass gave him his second win in three Chase races (first, second, first across the opening three playoff rounds) and his first Thunder Valley trophy after years of short-track grinding in Trucks and cars.
What’s next
The O’Reilly Series takes a week off, then resumes with the Focused Health 302 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 3, 2026. Cup fans stayed for Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at the same track. Series tickets: NASCAR tickets.
